SOMATIC EXPERIENCING
I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SE) with a unique specialty of combining SE with yoga. I provide both classical Somatic Experiencing sessions (involving trauma renegotiation and helping the body learn to regulate during the ups and downs of each day), as well as Somatic Experiencing integrating yoga postures. I also like to add Reiki and Touch-for-Trauma bodywork in my sessions.
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a type of bodywork that helps relieve anxiety and resolve trauma by carefully observing your body’s current responses to stress and then helping you learn how to open to greater feelings of safety and well-being.
This body-based mindfulness process was developed by Dr. Peter Levine to help you:
Calm your body's emergency response system and build a sense of resilience and safety.
Repair painful beliefs that may have originated from earlier overwhelming experiences.
Navigate challenging life situations and daily stresses with greater ease and confidence.
Somatically approach core issues that haven't been resolved by other therapies.
SE can help you reset your nervous system to overcome the physical and emotional symptoms of stress and trauma.
While traditional psychotherapy explores our inner world through the lens of our thinking and emotions, Somatic Experiencing broadens its focus to include all that’s alive in the body, with special attention to movement impulses, gestures, body sensations, imagery, restoring a sense of physical boundaries and protection…all of which helps us regain a sense of calm and confidence.
My sessions invite you to slow down and learn how to listen to the body's wisdom and reconnect with your center. I also provide guided visualizations, meditations, breathwork, and I do walking sessions when requested.

How does a Somatic Experiencing session work?

With a check-in on both a physical and an emotional level. I will teach you “resourcing” -- how to discover something good at any moment, slow down, and soak in relaxing, pleasant feelings to help heal your nervous system.

From there we slowly visit what feels challenging to you – your stories, your sensations, your feelings. I put special emphasis on listening with compassion and acceptance to understand your whole story. We titrate the process…just little bits at a time so as not to overwhelm your nervous system and instead deepen a sense of resiliency and your window of tolerance.
TO feel more wisdom and reconnect
Using dialogue, breath awareness, and supported yoga poses, I help you reeducate your nervous system to feel more ease. By the end of each session, you should feel a greater sense of health, strength, and wisdom and a decrease of overwhelm and stress symptoms.
BOOK YOUR SESSION
I recommend three or more private sessions to bring on deeper transformation (many people see me weekly for years as they find the process very beneficial), but even after one session you will feel an increase in emotional balance and presence.
A 75-minute session is $175.
