REIKI
For decades my yoga classes and somatic sessions have been places of love and healing. I felt like a missing piece was being able to transmit more positive energy to clients through my hands.
Gratefully
In 2019 I graduated from Kathy Kain’s Touch-for-Trauma course which brought more education and sensitivity to my hands. Now I bring a co-regulating touch to clients, specifically to organs. For instance, holding the kidney/adrenal area with presence helps clients downshift from anxiety to a more relaxed, embodied state. Combined with yogic breathwork clients can move out of the fight/flight mode to being able to feel more grounded and centered. Similarly, compassionate hands on the liver or around the brain stem help the body release into greater homeostasis, and then the mind gets to follow. So often we are top-down creatures leading with the head, but in my practice we explore the power of sensing the body and witnessing how that changes the mind.
REIKI CALLED
In 2021 I felt called to begin studying Reiki. I have taken two Master trainings and with the help of great teachers (Andrea Kennedy and Meg Siddheshwari Sullivan). I have learned how to become an instrument for a loving energy greater than myself to move through me to others.
TO BALANCE
YOUR lIFE
Reiki promotes relaxation and reduces stress through gentle touch. I use my hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your sense of health and aliveness. Mikao Usui developed Reiki in the early 1900s in Japan, deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. These days Reiki is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospice care, to complement other forms of health treatments.

No. These treatments should not be used as a substitute for the consultation of a physician or a psychotherapist. However they complement medical and therapeutic treatments.

Reiki/TT treatments typically last an hour. This includes a check-in and integration at the end. Sometimes clients do a half hour of Yoga stretches with me for targeted areas (I gently stretch the body on a comfortable floor mat) before receiving a half hour of Reiki/TT. During a session, you lie on the massage table fully clothed. Music is optional. I gently place my hands palms down on or just above your body in specific energy locations.
The length of time I leave my hands in each position is determined by the flow of energy I am experiencing in that area. If an area feels blocked or dysregulated, I might spend 5-10 minutes there to help it find balance again.
Reiki/TT differ from other touch therapies in that there is no massage or manipulation involved.

These bodywork sessions give you space for inner reflection and they’re a time for deep receiving. In Somatic Experiencing we will be dialoguing and helping you renegotiate trauma or emotional difficulties, feel your boundaries from a body level and learn to assert them, actively learn tools to help you self-regulate, and teach you therapeutic skills to deal with physical and emotional challenges.

It is normal to feel heat, coolness, tingling, pulsing or expansion. There is no right way to feel. Sometimes people feel sensations moving throughout the body and other people do not perceive much sensation. Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during the treatment, and it is also normal to fall asleep. Reiki /TT will still be doing its good work.
